j Hastings Wins B Grade | BRASS BAND CONTEST Press Association,— Copyright. Dunedin, Feb. 21— The New Zealand Band Contest was continued today in the Town Hall. Three solos and trombone trios were decided during the day and the first B grade test selection in the evening. The test selection for B grade bands was won by the Hastings Citizens Band., Results are as follow: Baritone Solo (own choice): A. Winslade (St. 'Kilda Municipal Band) 1; E. OBrien (Wellington Municipal Tramways Band). 2; R. Fenton (Port Nicholson Silver Band), 3. . BB Flat Bass Solo cwn choice): C. Hansen (Woolston Band), 1; T. H. Hughes, jun. (Nelson Garrison Rand) 2; H. Gracey (Christchurch Municipal Band), 3. Trombone Trios ("Masked Ball ): Port Nicholson Silver. Band (J. R. Marshall, W. Metson and K. OWers) 1- Woolston Band (E. Williams, H. Lanham, and W. Steer) 2; St. Kilda Municipal Band (T. Anderson, R. Miller and B. A. Munro) ?.. . E. Flat Teiior Horn Solo (own hoice): L. G. Taylor (Westport Municipal Band) 1; W. M. Wills (Invercargill Civic Band 2; D. G. D. Scott (St. Kilda Municipal Band) 3. Test Selection, B Grade ("I Capulette"): Hasctings Citizens .1, Ashburton Silver '2, Westport Municipal 3, Greymouth Civic 4, Green Island Municipal 5, Mataura 6, Christchurch Municipal 7, Nelson Garrison 8, Dunedin Artillery, Dunedin City Tramways, andw Napier City (equal) 9, Mo'sgiel Municipal 12, West Harbour Brass 13. The points in this competition will be announced on Thursday evening, when the second test will be judged.
