big loan for works policy.
AMBITIOUS PROCRAMMME.

London, March 25. The Daily Chronicle says the Port of the London Authority has arranged a five-million loan to begin a big programme of improvements, employing a large number of unemployed, The works projected include a six-storey wool warehouse at the western* ■ branch of the London Docks; two three-storey sheds at Shadwell Basin; also a turning basin between the east,;; west, and south docks and a grain depot 'at Mill wall Dock with a c pacity of forty thousand tons.
Ihe Port Authority also proposes to construct a floating passengerlanding stage at Tilbury, which will bo 1700 feet long, enabling the largest ships to land passengers at any state of the tide.
The Authority is preparing plans for another'great dock on the north side of Victoria and Albert docks, which will be 126 acres in extent, and forty-five feet deep; also an extension of the Tilbury Docks, including a dock with throe miles of quays.
Continuous work ,is going on deepening the Channel from London Bridge to The Nore between Albert Dock and Ihe Noro, and there is now a channel six hundred feet wide, with thirty feet .of water at low tide.
