The Coal Shortage

CARGO FROM AUSTRALIA. RAILWAYS’ FIRST CALL. Per Press Association. Wellington, October 10. Mr Massey stated to-day that an officer of the Department had completed the purchase of 75,000 tons of Australian coal, to which Mr Hughes had assented. This is in addition to a. smaller quantity previously bought. No difficulty is anticipated in bringing it over. The Railway Department will have the first claim on supplies.
