FOOTBALL NOTES.

(By Touchline.) Since writing my former ; nates 1 hear that owing to the poor nominations coming forward for the tournament faxed for Thursday next, this fixture doned. It is perhaps better so, as a match played between a probable senior team and say twenty other players would arouse more enthusiasm amongst the local players, and would give "the selectors a much better opportunity of selecting and placing the various teams. There are several new players donning the jersey this season, who probably have a reputation, and a match of this description would give them a chance of showing their capabilities. The following would make a good probable senior team to take on all-eomers: Full, Kivell; three-quarters, Young,/ Brown, Whittington; five-eighths, Cameron, Bonner; half, Spratt; wing, Stewart; forwards, front row, Reid, Woods; lock, Smith; supports, Dewar, Sullivan ; back row, Fe'arori (2). It is not to be supposed for a moment that this will be the senior "team, as there are several good men who must be given an opportunity of playing themselves into a position, but at the same time it will force players to make a showing or go down to the second grade. The junior teams-in previous years have not received the attention which they should have. i have seen many a good junior team in Stratford defeated simply through bad management. Now, if some of the old heads would give a little time in coaching the juniors, I am perfectly sure that these lads will give a good account of themselves. The secretary of the Whangamomona Club writes cheerily as follows: "We had a successful annual meeting on Saturday night, and T reckon football going to boom out this way this year. We have a fine ground to play on. and that is everything out in the backblocks. They have formed a Club up at Kohurntahi comprising Tahora and Kohuratahi districts. They decided to join the UniOn, and we did likewise. Tam trying to get Tej Wera, Toko, and Makaliu clubs to join also; if they do. we will be able to form a subunion under the Taranaki Union."
