When Mr Allen Doone concluded his season at the Princess’s Theatre on Satui'day night (says the Melbourne Argus of the 6th inst.) enthusiasts amongst the audience waited for him in the sti’eet in front of the theatre. Nearly a thousand people were present, and as tlie hero of '“Barry of Ballyraore” left the stage door to walk towards his motor car, the crowd pressed so tightly i-ouixd him that he was lifted off his feet, and for a few moments was thx-eatened with bodily injury. His gold tie-clasp, set with a diamond, a ruby, and an emerald, which he valued at £lO, had also been taken. In the excitement Mr Doone did not notice any one intex-fering with his clothing, and in reporting his loss to the detectives late on Satui'day night, he expressed the opinion that, possibly, the jewellery had been lost in the croud, but a subsequent search in front of the theatre failed ,to find any of the missing propei’ty.
