Ratepayers should bear in mind that the last day for the payment of Borough rates, September 30th, is '.ear at hand. The chief business at the next meeting of the executive committee of the A. and P. Asosoiation will bo the appointment of judges for the show. The A. and P. Association has decided to allow the Cricket Club to use its grounds for playing, on condition that the laying down of the pitch shall be done under the supervision of the Association’s ground committee and that the club pay to the Association 10 per cent, of any gate takings. Occupation of the ground by the club is to be always at the pleasure of the Association.

TJie Borough Council held a short meeting last night and appointed Mr E. E. Stark as the Council’s arhitrator in connection with tlie proposed acquisition of tiio electric light n orks. in consequence of having received several requests to repeat ‘‘Trial by Jury,” those who took part in the recent concert will meet at the hire ip igaclo Station on Monday night to discuss the matter, and also to talk over future movements. Stohr’s snop in Headway the cup presented oy Jio Colonial Ammunition Company for annual competition by school cadets in the Wellington,'' Wanganui, and laranaki Education Districts, winch was won last year by Barry }} of the Stratford District High School. This is the first time the cup has been won by a Stratford lad. previous winners being-1907, Walton, Levin, 1908,S track, Hawera; 1909, Lonmer, Greytowu.
