ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
(Per Press Association.) Timaru, September 22. The body of a man named O’Shea, aged about si::ty, was found on tho rocks on . tho harbour beach this morning. The skull was smashed and tho neck broken. It is supposed he had been dead for hours. Little is known of the deceased. Blenheim, September 22. No trace has yet been found of Mrs Eyes, missing from Rainfalls since Monday. Dragging operations were carried out in Pclorus river yesterday, but without avail. It is feared that the body lias been carried by tho swollen river into the Sound, and little bopos arc entertained of its recovery. Dunedin, September 22. Tbos. Omand died suddenly ;\t Port Chalmers this morning. He resided at the Lower Harbour, and had driven into town. He was just about to return home, when he fell forward in his trap, and when picked up was dead. Death was due to heart failure. Deceased, who was 60 years of age, was a gold digger, and had resided in the district for 40 years. , Christchurch, September 22. Mr H. W. Bishop, District Coroner, held an inquest at Allendale this afternoon on Richard Edward Harris, GO years of ago. The evidence of the son of the deceased was to the effect that tho other members of the family missed deceased after breakfast on Thursday morning and were unable to got any trace of him. Witness returned from Lyttelton on Thursday night, and yesterday, when he went to the paddock, lie found his father hanging dead from a tree at the back of the shod. A verdict of suicide whilst in a state of unsound mind was recorded.
