WELLINGTON SEATS. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, September 4. Replying to strong representations that he should contest the Wellington Suburbs scab, at the general election, Mi' ; A. 11. Atkinson stated that ho believed his chances in Wellington East (for which seat he iias been announced for some time) to be excellent, and he did not feel justified in leaving it even for a constituency where they were perhaps rather bettor. He had, however, for private reasons, which did not concern electors, to tell them that he would be unable to stand for any constituency at tho general election. THE WALLACE SEAT. Invercargill, September 4. Tho “Times” understands that the Opposition Party at Riverton has decided to support Mr. James King, of Clifden, as the candidate for the Wallace electorate in the Opposition interest at the forthcoming elections.
