ANNUAL MEETING. ■■ ' >. , The annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held in. the Borough Council Chamber last bight. In the unavoidable absence of Mr J. Masters (president) Mr James was voted to the- chair. The secretary tendered apologies for the absence of Messrs Masters and Ward. Ho also read a telegraphicNrpology from Mr J. B. Hine, who said he desired to_ congratulate the Chamber on the solid work done and also to thank them for the j assistance ■ which the Chamber had always’generously* granted him in connection with district requirements. Mr N. J. King moved the adoption of the report and balancetshoet. Mr W. P. Kirkwood said the Chamber should be congratulated on' the operations of the year. He paid a high tribute to the secretary (Mr Richards), who, he felt sure, cbuld not be replaced in Taranaki. Her Imped he woulcl be the. secretary ‘ for the coming year. Not only had he been energetic, but he had been intelligently energetic. Mr King also paid a tribute to the work of Mr Richards. Election of Officers. The’’following officers were elected : President, Mr J. Masters; vice-presid-ents, Messrs James and Kirkwood; executive committee, Messrs Youivg, Munro, Cargill, McMillan, Ward,'[and Hewitt; secretary, Mr J. 13. Richards.
