MAIN TRUNK LINE.
ANOTHER, ACCIDENT. (Poj’ Press Association.) i Auckland, June 30. The express ‘train leaving Auckland at 9.15 last night, when nearing To Kauwhata station, at about 11 p.m., caught in the siding points, and,the engine and mail van ran down the siding, while the rest of the train travelled along the main lino. Four first carriages were dragged diagonally across by the engine and were derailed. The driver promptly shut off steam, and stopped in fifty yards, jarring the passengers and breaking two windows, but injuring no one except a lady, who had her arm cut with broken glass. The passengers were detained for over seven hours, when they were transferred to the morning express from Wellington, and, with the mail van, proceeded on their way. > The disaster might have been very serious but for the driver’s promptness. Traffic will bo seriously impeded on the line all to-day. In connection with the accident, two men have been suspended. The ti'ain will not reach Wellington till 10 o’clock to-night. The accident was apparently duo to at the points.
