AUCKLAND FOOD SUPPLY.
HORRIBLE STATE OF AFFAIRS. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, June 29. The report presented to the City Council last night by the municipal inspectors contained some rather sensational particulars of the city’s public food supply., ft instanced cases of hotels and restaurants where the kitchens are frequently flooded with sewerage, and of butchers’ chops where dirty conditions exist and rats and rotten meat abound. Regarding bakehouses, one instance was quoted in which offensive matter had leaked over the tables, and dead rats wore found in food boxes. , •* i.i>. .linn' !K1 The Council decided to invito the Inspector of Police, the District Health Officers, and the Inspector of Factories to make an inspection of the city, to decide upon united action in regard to the report presented by the Council’s sanitary inspector with respect to the extraordinary insanitary condition of certain hotels, restaurants, etc.
