GIRL PEACE SCOUTS.
A meeting of the above was held in the Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Mr Salraond, late District Commander of the Bluff, accompanied by Mrs Salmond, was present. Dr Steven delivered a most interesting lecture which was listened to with keen interest by all. The doctor will conduct a practical demonstration after each lecture. ■At the termination of the first aid lecture Mr Salmond addressed the Scouts on the principles and aims of the organisation, relating to the Scouts’ Oath and Law, also imparting a great amount of knowledge to the scoutmistrcsses and officers in charge. Ho also quoted instances whore the girls in other places had done their good turns to the aged and needy. Mr and Mrs Salmond were entertained at tea hy the Scoutmaster (Mr Bird) and some members of the Girl Peace Scouts Council and afterwards loft by the 6.45 train for Hawera, where they now reside. The Girl Peace Scouts hold their first “At Homo” in the Salvation Army Hall (kindly lent hy the Captain) next Thursday evening. It will be a hook title evening with proverbs and observation table. Invitations have been issued, and a very enjoyable evening is looked forward to, especially „s a good musical programme under Troop-Sergeant Cramer’s supervision is in hand. Mr Dixon has kindly lent a piano free of charge for the occasion. Mrs Childs, the sewing instructress, reports good progress and finds the scouts most obedient at their duties.
