Tho judgment renders invalid a large number of industrial agreements, and if they wore interfered with trouble would ensue. Although opposed to strikes, that was tho only method left if they were deprived of tho right of arbitration. It was possible tho Gov-ernor-General would proclaim that such an Association was an organisation under the Act. If that was done the trouble would bo averted. Referring to the different Courts. Mr Mitchell stated that it cost £IOO less to obtain an award in the Federal Court, covering the whole of Australia, than in the State Court for the State only.

A deputation informed Mr Flowers that the meat combine had cornered slaughtering space at tho abattoirs, and although not using it themselves, refused to allow others to use it, thereby hampering trade. Mr Flowers professed amazement at tho statement, and declared emphatically that the Department would not tolerate such a condition, even if it had to cancel leases.
