FEDERAL CUSTOMS.
INCREASED DUTY ASKED FOR. Melbourne, Juno 20. A deputation asked Mr. 'Tudor, Federal Minister for Customs, for nv creased Customs duties. He replied that before ho prepared a scheme of icvision of duties lie must learn the amount of capital invested in the industries, and the proportion of wages paid to the cost of the finished article. Let them toll him how much capital was invested; then he would have something to go upon. He added that the workers will want to know how much capital is invested because they will ho expected to make profits on that capital, and their wages will be judged accordingly.
