WANGANUI HARBOUR IMPROVEMENT.

(I’or Press . Association.) Wanganui, June 16. Tim Wanganui Harbour Hoard tonight received from Mr. Leslie Reynolds, consulting engineer, Ids voporf on the harbour schemes. The estimate provides for a depth at the entrance of 21 or 25 feet at low water, equal to 32 or 33 feet at high water. This depth is to lie obtained by extension of the moles. Tee estimate also provides for a floating basin of 25 acres at Castlecliff, dredged to r depth of 30 foot at low water. Tlu basin is to ho enclosed by a. wall, the total area which provides for future developments being 38 acres. An up to-date dredge is also provided for. The total estimate for this work is: £IBB,IOO. The report deals with the deepen-. ing of the channel to a depth of 17ft. Mr. Reynolds was also asked to re- ! port on the project of making a floating basin at the town instead of at Castlecliff,. and. his estilnate is £417,470, which means that, this scheme ' will not ho considered any further,'
