DOMESTIC SCIENCE COLLEGE.
EIGHT HOUR DAY FOR SLR V A-NTS. Sydney, June 16. Mr. Bccby, Minister of Education, informed a deputation of ladies that a domestic science college would bo cstablishpd- in a few months. One member of the. deputation urged that ’if the college'only succeeded in turning out a !o>v good cooks it would do something for the root of all domestic troubles and divorce proceed i ngs—i ndigostion. Mr. Bcoby said the object of the college would bo to train teachers who would impart their knowledge to children in every important school. He did not think an attempt would be made to establish a college to train domestic servants- Ho looked forward to the time when the domestic servant’'would do her eight hours work and then leave. If anybody wanted the luxury of another eight hours’ work they would have to get a second •shift of girls. ... a ■
