ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

The Council of the Acclimatisation Society met on Wednesday evening. The, secretary submitted a report on the number of fish liberated during the past nine years, the number bciig shown to be 315,000. iT.c secretary was instructed to order fifty brace of pheasants for next year. The following resolution, moved by Mr W.’ P. Kirkwood, was carried unanimously: “That as a preliminary to a thorough investigation of the effect of stocking streams with trout, the secretary lie requested to write to the Taranaki and Hawera Societies asking (1) does your society consider results satisfactory in the matter of stocking streams .with trout, (2) if the results are hot satisfactory can you attribute any reason for the bad results, (3) would <our society 7 favour a conference ol the Taranaki, Hawera and Stratford Societies going into the question of stocking streams throughout the province. It was decided to ask the other o'ieties if they favoured a conference early in July. Accounts amounting to £GO were passed for payment.
