an unbeliever. (Received 20,' 8.5 a.m.) London, May ‘25. Air. Murrav, Premier of \ictoiia, interviewed, said ho thought Sir Joseph Ward’s Imperial Council ought to lie simply a consultative .hotly. Replying to a suggestion that such an imperial Council would he useful in co-ordinating efforts in different parts of the Empire in matters of defence, ho said ho believed an Imperial Committee on defence would bo quite able to co-ordinate. He did not think Britain’s naval advisers required to lie told what to do with the British Navy by Australia. Owing to opposition from British and other delegates, Sir . Joseph Ward has withdrawn his proposal.
