HUGE COST OF WAR TO FRANCE

PARIS, August 27. The cost of the war to France, was £24,485,000,000 or 45 per cent, of the national wealth, said M. Pierre Tietgen, in a speech. The Minister estimated that the war destroyed nearly 2,000,000 houses, 5000 bridges, half of France’s railway stations, and 350 railway coaches.
