OBITUARY

MR DUNCAN McKENZIE Mr Duncan McKenzie, who died at his home in Invercargill on Tuesday at the age of 60, was a foundation member of the Southland branch of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union and for his services to the branch, first as treasurer and then for a number of years as president, he had the honour of being a life member. Mr McKenzie worked in the sawmilling industry in Southland for many years. He was for a number of years manager of the Southland Sawmilling Company’s mill near Orepuki. After that mill closed down he became head yardman for a firm of timber merchants in Invercargill, but latterly, because of ill health, he had been living in retirement. Many years ago Mr McKenzie’s father operated a sawmill at Waimatua.
