BITS OF GERMANY WANTED
LIKELY CLAIMS FOR TERRITORY As the result of the German surrender some European delegations have announced territorial claims against the Reich, although the matter is not one for UNCIO, says the American Associated Press correspondent at the United Nations Conference on World Organization. Tile Netherlands are claiming the Frisian province; the Belgians a small strip along the Belgian-German border. In London the Poles want East Prussia. The Warsaw Government has raised tire question of extending Po-. land’s western frontier to the Oder river, including Stettin. France demands all Germany west of the Rhine.
It is believed that Southern Schleswig and Northern Frisia may be awarded to Demark as a move to make the Kiel Canal an international waterway, Many Allied sources believe that Germany will lose Heligoland. Memel land will doubtless be returned to Lithuania. South Africa has served notice that it desires the West Africa mandate terminated and the area incorporated in the Union.
