MR HULL DEFINITELY RESIGNED

Mr Stettinius Nominated As Successor WASHINGTON, November 27. Mr Roosevelt today announced the resignation of the Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, because of ill-health. Mr Roosevelt has nominated Mr Edward R. Stettinius, Under-Secretary of State, to succeed Mr Hull. Mr Roosevelt said that Mr Hull would be in and around Washington for a long time and would act as adviser to the President, carrying on the start he had made on the United Nations’ plan aimed towards peace at least during the lifetime of the present administration. The President explained that Mr Hull and his physicians felt that his complete recovery would be retarded by a continuation of heavy responsibility during his period of recovery.
