GOLDFISH SENT TO MONTGOMERY

(Rec. 12.15 a.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 28. A war veterans’ organization at St. Joseph, Missouri, decided that Field-Marshal Montgomery was surrounded by noisy pets and needed some quiet ones for a change. Accordingly they shipped half-a-dozen goldfish to the Field-Mar-shal’s headquarters. Field-Marshal Montgomery replied: “Thank you very much indeed for the interesting and amusing present. The goldfish arrived via Paris after only seven days en route. They were in terrific heart. I should say that in the goldfish world this would probably be one of the longest journeys ever.”
