COLAC BAY PATRIOTIC FUNDS
Sir,—l am a regular subscriber to the local patriotic funds at Colac Bay, which are collected by members of the Colac Bay and district citizens’ committee. When the radio appeal for funds was made last month the people here were given to understand that the above committee would contribute £2O, but so far I have seen no acknowledgement of it. In a broadcast from Invercargill last week an announcement was made that Colac Bay had not contributed to the appeal, while it announced the names of neighbouring townships and the amounts given by each. If the amount has been paid in, as I am assured it has been, it would be interesting to know what district got credit for it. FOGGED. [A contribution of £2O from the Colac Bay Citizens’ Association has been received and acknowledged by the treasurer of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council (Mr W. F. Sturman). As no patriotic committee exists at Colac Bay the contribution was credited to the Riverton zone. The interest and generosity of the Colac Bay Citizens’ Association was appreciated, stated a prominent patriotic official yesterday.]
