GOLF.— A Stableford match conducted by the Gore Golf Club on its links at Croydon was won by H. A. Price, who returned a card of 24-12-36. C. R. Barron was runner-up with a net score of 35. A big field took part in the match. CHURCH CHOIR CONCERT.— An enjoyable programme was presented by the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church choir when it held its annual concert in St. Andrew's Hall. There was a big attendance and all the items were well received. At an interval during the evening the Rev. F. B. Barton expressed pleasure at the large attendance and he extended thanks to the performers on behalf of the church officers. PATRIOTIC EFFORT.— Last night the Eastern Southland patriotic fund total to date was £11,826 and it was estimated that between £750 and £BOO would have to be raised today to fill, the district's quota. Yesterday Mr W. D. Shelton, chairman of the Eastern Southland Patriotic Zone Committee, congratulated the district on the wonderful efforts made. In three weeks the sum of £2OOO had been subscribed and he was confident that the sum required to fill the quota would be forthcoming. LAWN TENNIS.— The following officebearers were elected at the annual meeting of the St. Patrick’s Tennis Club.—Patron, the Rev. Father T. Kavanagh; president, the Rev. Father A. Welsh; vice-presidents, the Rev. Father H. N. Woods, Messrs P. R. Mallon and B. Ferguson; secretary and treasurer, Miss D. Schultz; committee, Messrs B. Welsh, B. Wallis, Mrs M. Adair and Miss C. Currie: delegates to the Eastern Southland Lawn Tennis Sub-Association, the Rev. Father Welsh and Mr B. Welsh; club captain, Miss C. Currie; auditor, Mr M. Green. Twenty-one new members were elected. The opening day will be held on Saturday, October JO. MILK ZONING.— The milk zoning scheme which was to have been introduced at Gore tomorrow has been postponed for a short time because of a number of difficulties which have arisen. An officer of the South Island Zoning Council will visit Gore today, and it is thought that the details will be completed to enable the introduction of the scheme at an early date. COMFORTS ARRIVE.— Cabled advice from London that the consignment of knitted t comforts dispatched from Gore some months ago had arrived safely has been received by Mr F. R. Wallis, superintendent of the Gore Fire Brigade. The comforts were knitted for London firemen by the women of Gore and district, the wool being supplied by the Gore Fire Brigade. '
