Austin (Republican, Vermont) introduced a “Work or > Fight” Bill drafting all man-power between 18 and 65 years of age and lower- ; ing the military age to 18. Men de- . ferred from military service and those ' between 45 and 65 years would be liable for service as war production or agricultural workers. i The Man-Power Commissioner, Mr Paul V. McNutt, announced another plan intended to increase man-power for war production under which students may enroll in a High School Victory Corps for assignment to places in the war effort. The War Labour Board has adopted the principle of equal pay for equal work for women employed in war industries in a decision involving a company at Providence. The board pointed out that in calling oh American women to assume a vital role on the industrial front the country had an obligation to provide the utmost assurance that they would not be subject to discriminatory treatment in compensation, 1
