DUNEDIN MARKETS » (P.A.) DUNEDIN, September 25. A break in the weather has delayed the sowing of wheat. There are still, however, substantial quantities of seed wheat going to the country and once the weather becomes more settled sowing will be in full swing. It appears that enough potatoes for the requirements of the armed forces to the end of the season are now in hand and that there will be a small surplus for distribution to hotels and eating houses. It 1s expected that these places will take up all the surplus available and that the householder will have to do the best he can in the circumstances. The market for seeds remains quiet with little overseas inquiry, though further business has been recorded by exporters in Chewings fescue. Browntop is also receiving a certain amount of attention. High prices continue to rule for certified mother and pedigree Montgomery red clover and certified mother white clover, but the greater part of the demand for these seeds appears to have been satisfied. There is no change to report in the cocksfoot, ryegrass and cowgrass markets.
