FIRE BRIGADES IN EMERGENCY
May Be Ordered Outside District In ordinary circumstances a fire brigade is not permitted to attend a fire outside its district unless by special arrangement. This, however, will not apply in the event of an emergency. District controllers of "the. E.P.S. have the power to order fire brigades to attend fires outside their districts in order to assist other brigades.. For instance, the Gore and Bluff brigades might be ordered to come to the assistance of the Invercargill brigade in the event of a raid on the city. In the same way in the event of a raid on Bluff, the Invercargill brigade might be ordered there to give assistance. It was reported yesterday that special equipment is to be purchased to enable the Gore and Bluff brigades to come to the assistance of the Invercargill brigade if necessary.
