MEN FOR SERVICE OVERSEAS

Government’s Policy (P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 4. The Government has no present intention of sending overseas members of the Territorial Force under the age of 21, according to a statement made tonight by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. He added that it would be realized that under the National Service Emergency Regulations every male member of any armed force was liable as such for service wherever he was required, whether in New Zealand or elsewhere. The circumstances in the. future might require a change of policy concerning the dispatch of men both under the age of 21 and over 41 for service overseas, but for the present only those fit men who had reached 21 and had not attained the age of 41 would be sent overseas.
