ELECTION NECESSARY FOR MAYORALTY

SECOND NOMINATION RECEIVED An election for the mayoralty of Invercargill is now cei'tain as two nominations have been received by the town clerk, Mr W. F. Sturman. The Deputy-Mayor, Mr A. Wachner, was nominated on Thursday, May 28, and the nomination of Cr. J. Pickard, chairman of the Reserves and Town Planning Committees, was lodged just after mid-day yesterday. His nominators were Messrs John Pedlar and M. Miller. Nominations will close at noon today. The election will be held on Monday, June 22. As both candidates are members of the City Council a second election will be necessary to fill the vacancy if one of the two aspirants already nominated is elected Mayor.
