SOUTHLAND PASSES IN MATRICULATION

GOOD RECORD OF BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL In the results of the University Entrance examination published last week 37 pupils of the Southland Boys’ High School secured passes. Fifteen of the successful candidates were boys in their third year of secondary education. This result compares very favourably with those of northern schools where in some cases the roll number is larger. Taken over a long period of years only 45 per cent, of all the candidates pass the matriculation examination, but this year the Southland Boys’ High School secured a 72 per cent. pass. All of the successful candidates have received letters from the Public Service Commissioner inviting them to apply for positions in the Public Service.
