(P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 25. Scout Week message. This was anFebruary 20, when the Governor-Gen-eral (Sir Cyril Newall) will broadcast a Scout week message. This was announced at the week-end by the Dominion Chief Commissioner, Mr Hector Christie, after an interview with Sir Cyril. Mr Christie said that the national emergency necessitated a revision of the programme. Further recent calls for the armed forces made the need for new scouters, helpers and instructors even more pressing. The programme for the week is as follows:—Friday. February 20.—Opening. Saturday. February 21.—Special “good turn” service day. On the morning of this day every Boy Scout will participate in a community good turn” carried out by Scouts in groups. In the .afternoon district Scout rallies demonstrating to the public Scout efficiency and preparedness for national emergency will be held. Large public attendances are expected. At night the Scout troops will celebrate the birthday of the Scout movement with their own troop birthday parties to which boys who are not already Scouts, former Scouts; parents of Scouts and supporters of kindred organizations are invited. Sunday. February 22.—This day will be dedicated to intercession that the Scouts of New Zealand may be granted strength and courage to play their part to the full in the country’s service. Special Scout services will be held in the afternoon. During the week commissioners or scouters will address luncheon gatherings of dubs and associations. Already 20,000 copies of the Scout Week magazine have been circulated among Boy Scouts, Wolf Cubs and parents’ committees. It is hoped to make the Scout Week an annual event.
