Parents may interview him at any time during that period. Free places are available to boys who hold Primary School Certificates or are over 14 years of age. COURSES OF STUDY PROFESSIONAL A —preparing for Law, Medicine, Dentistry, Teaching, Church, etc.' PROFESSIONAL B —preparing for Engineering, Surveying, Architecture, etc. GENERAL —preparing for vocations in which a pass in the University Entrance Examination (Matriculation) is of material assistance. DATE of re-opening, 1942: TUESDAY, 3rd, FEBRUARY. /..Enrolment of new pupils:— The Principal will be in attendance at the school on FRIDAY and MONDAY, 30th. January and 2nd. February, 1942, from 10-12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. • Primary School Certificates, Leaving Cards and Birth Certificates should be presented on enrolment. COURSES OF STUDY A.—Professional, with Latin. B.—Professional, with Geography instead of Latin. C.—Commercial, with Shorthand, Typing and Bookkeeping instead of Mathematics. D.—Home, with Dressmaking and Handwork instead of Mathematics. Courses A and B prepare for full Matriculation. Course C prepares for Commercial Examinations, Junior Government and Pitman’s. Courses C and D prepare girls, if necessary, for nonmathematics matriculation. Trainees for these technical professions should make early contact with the practical aspects of the work under qualified specialists. SPORTS AND GENERAL PURPOSES CHARGE Payment of 3/- for the first term, or 7/6 for the year, is due at the time of enrolment. GORE HIGH SCHOOL Rector —Mr E. H. W. Rowntree M.A. THE School and Hostels will be reopened on Tuesday 3rd. February at the usual hour. A free place is granted to a pupil who possesses either of the following specifications: (a) Has passed form 11 (Standard 6). (b) Has reached the age of 14 years. Train pupils should make application in writing to the Rector for free Railway tickets stating age, name, station and School class. Free rail tickets are not available to pupils who board. A departmental grant is made to pupils who must board or travel by road in order to attend School. Applications must be made immediately for board or travelling grants.

There are vacancies for both boys and girls at the Hostels. Boarders are under personal care of the Rector whose residence adjoins the Hostels. They are given proper guidance and assistance in their evening preparation and every attention is paid to their health and comfort. A swimming pool has been built in the Hostel grounds and is now available for use by the pupils. Provision is made for music practice. Full particulars will be found in the School Prospectus. The Rector will be in attendance at the School to interview parents and enrol pupils on Friday and Saturday, January 30 and 31, and Monday, February 2, from 10-12 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. Copies of Prospectus and information may be obtained from the undersigned.
