MAN-POWER CONTROL IN AUSTRALIA

CANBERRA, January 21. A drastic overhaul of the reserved occupations list will be one of the early results of the Government’s new system of man-power control announced yesterday. Every employable man and woman comes under "the plan, some being retained on munitions, others released for army service and some retained for civil production. Mr E. J. Ward, Minister of Labour and National Service, whose department is administering the new system, said today that essential national needs

would determine what industries should be safeguarded. A directorgeneral of man power would be appointed who would not be a representative of either the services or of private industry.
