NATIONAL FITNESS RALLY

FUNCTION IN NOVEMBER A decision to hold a two-hour sports programme during the national fitness rally to be held on November 8 was reached at a meeting of the Rally Sports Committee held last night. Mr R. T. Meredith presided and an outline of the proposals for the rally, which will be presented to the next full meeting of the Rally Committee, was given by the organizer, Mr Lloyd Woods (area recreation officer).

A sports programme, to follow the tableau, march past, band display and Women’s Auxiliary tournament, was adopted by the committee. It was decided to ask bushcraft competitors to forward their entries to Mr A. Cocker as it would be impossible to hold heats and the entries would therefore have to be limited. It also was decided to ask the Swimming Centre to hold a swimming carnival in the evening. The committee will recommend the adoption of the programme and the necessary arrangements to carry it into effect at the next meeting of the National Fitness Rally Committee to be held on September 18.
