TUATAPERE WINS FLAG FOR NATIONAL SAVINGS

Tuatapere with 508 accounts has won the National Savings flag for the Southland postal district for the period which will end on September 23. The flag is awarded for the highest percentage of accounts to population. Wyndham with 514 accounts is runner-up; then follow Bluff with 721 and Otautau 475. The five “100 per cent.” towns are now eliminated from the competition. There was an increase of 453 accounts in Southland last week and the total is now 14,671, 329 behind the objective of 15.000. There are now 245 National Savings groups operating in the district.
