APPLICATION FOR TELEPHONE BOX

REJECTION BY DEPARTMENT Advice that at the present time the department could not grant the council’s application for a public call telephone box in Elies road south in the vicinity of the council hall was received at the meeting of the South Invercargill Borough Council last night from the Post and Telegraph Departmnet. It was stated that the department did not consider the site suggested as the most suitable and when more opportune times permitted the consideration of the installation, the corner of Elies road and O’Hara street would be viewed as a more suitable spot. It was decided that the City Council be asked to co-operate in approaching the department to erect a telephone box at the corner of O’Hara street and Elies road.
