HOME GUARD
The Home Guard’s first firing practice was held on Saturday afternoon. Splendid butts in a hollow in the sandhills towards Ocean Beach had been prepared under the direction of the local commander, Mr N. W. McGorlick, and during the practice patrols were posted to ensure absolute safety. The target was in a six-inch square and the range 25 yards. The standard of shooting was vex-y good indeed, one guardsman of over 70 years of age returning an excellent card.
The parade, consisting of more than 100 Bluff men under Mr McGorlick and 30 from Woodend and Tisbury in charge of Mr J. Leith, assembled at the Drill Hall and marched to the range. HEADLIGHT RESTRICTIONS Bluff motorists are reminded that the requisite notices dealing with headlight restrictions have now been erected and it will be necessary for all cars to have the lights altered to comply with the regulations.
