BRIGADIER HARGEST RECEIVES PARCEL
LETTERS TO MANDEVILLE INSTITUTE The Mandeville Women’s Institute recently sent a number of parcels of comforts to district soldiers overseas and two of the recipients of the parcels, Brigadier James Hargest, and Private James McHardy, have written to the institute expressing appreciation for the gl Writing from Crete, Brigadier Hargest stated that the parcel had come at a most propitious time, because since their arrival from Greece they had found that while not being short they had lacked variety. The parcel was hailed as a gift from heaven. “All its contents were in perfect condition, stated the letter, “and what we have used we have relished, so please let me thank you most heartily for remembering me. We have now settled down on this delightful island after a very interesting experience in Greece, from where we arrived with little more than what we stood up in.” Private McHardy’s letter stated that the contents of his parcel were in firstclass order, including the cakes, which were as fresh as if they had just been taken out of the oven.
