SOUTHLAND MEN REPORTED SAFE

Advice has been received by friends oi’ relations that the following Southland soldiers are safe and well: — Driver R. Bradley, son of Mr and Mrs J. Bradley, Pukemaori. Private A. M. Pearce, of Invercargill. Lance-Corporal P. G. Scott, son of Mr and Mrs R. C. Scott, Clyde street. Driver J. T. Gillespie, son of Mrs J. Gillespie, Orepuki. Driver G. S. Mills, son of Mr and Mrs E. A. Mills, 141 Princes street. Captain J. K. Robbie, husband of Mrs J. K. Robbie.

Private G. D. Robson, of Mataura. Sergeant G. F. McKerchar, son of Mr D. C. McKerchar. Private Albert Wyatt, Greenhills. Lance-Corporal G. A. Aston, son of Mrs A. M. Aston, Dipton. Sergeant F. Lawton, husband of Mrs E. Lawton, corner Lorn and Tay streets. REPORTED MISSING Lance-Corporal Albert John Watson, son of Mr J. K. Watson, Dublin street, who was previously reported to be wounded, is now reported to be missing. Mr and Mrs J. M. Phillips, Beatrice street, have received advice that their younger son, 2nd Lieutenant Verdun Donald Phillips is reported missing after military operations in Greece. 2nd Lieutenant Phillips was born at Lumsden and was educated at the primary school at Tuatapere and the Riverton District High School. He was a member of the Star Football Club, and was laso a keen golfer. When war broke out, he was employed by the Dunedin Rubber Company. He enlisted at the outbreak of war. He passed through the Royal Military College at Sandhurst, where he received his commission, and was later posted to the 21st Auckland Battalion. Mr and Mrs W. George, Lewis street, have received advice from the Defence Department that their son, BombardierSergeant D. L'. George, of the New Zealand Artillery, is on the list of those missing after the campaign in Greece.
