PATRIOTIC CARNIVAL

The Metropolitan Patriotic Committee expresses its appreciation of the action of the Boy Scouts throughout Invercargill who are devoting much effort to the sale of tickets for the various functions which are to take place during carnival week. The tickets which the Scouts are selling at 1/- each will admit to either the swimming carnival to be held in the Tepid Baths on Wednesday, or to the grand concert and community sing in the theatre on Thursday, or to the sports rally and football match to be held at Rugby Park on Saturday next at 1.30 p.m. Full particulars of the carnival week effort are to be found in the advertising columns. In asking the public to accord its support to carnival week, the Metropolitan Patriotic Committee desires to draw attention to the fact that to meet Southland’s quota of the Dominion “million pound” appeal for patriotic funds, which closes on May 31, a considerable amount by way of patriotic contributions is still required.
