CITY CLOCK UNDERGOING OVERHAUL

The clock on the Chief Post Office tower stopped on Sunday and is at present undergoing a thorough overhaul. It is thought that the breakdown is due to worn mechanism. The clock and the chimes were made in New Zealand. It may be thought by many that the clock belongs to the Post and Telegraph Department, but it is actually the property of the Invercargill City Council, which is responsible for its upkeep.
