"THIN RED LINE WILL ADVANCE AGAIN”
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 16. “I do not suppose there is any British subject who, having read Mr Winston Churchill’s speech, did not feel a tingle of pride at the thought that here was a man who was standing out in defiance of Hitler and telling him what he would get,” said Mr W. P. Endean (Nat., Remuera) in the House this afternoon. “He has moulded together all sections of the British community and we are proud of the fact that England is standing up to one of the greatest threats that has ever endangered civilization,” said Mr Endean. “Mr Churchill reminds me of the English bull dog who has his teeth in and is going to keep them there. The time is coming in 1942 when the thin red line will again advance as it did at Waterloo, and despotism will be overwhelmed.” Mr Endean urged that everything should be done to concentrate on the war effort. He hoped that the War Cabinet would enable them to put their best foot forward to help Britain. “Discipline must be enforced on every section of the community to ensure that we are 100 per cent, behind the war effort,” he said.
