SALVAGE WORK AT WAIKOUAITI

HARDWOOD POLES TAKEN ASHORE Salvage work was once again successfully carried out by the Orewa at the wrecked steamer Waikouaiti yesterday. Working conditions were good and a large amount of cargo was brought ashore. The bulk of this cargo was made up of poles of hardwood timber, which completely filled two railway trucks, and one truck of steel bars, each bar measuring approximately 16 feet.

No change has been reported in the Waikouaiti’s position.
