AMMUNITION STOLEN IN DUBLIN

SOLDIERS CONDUCT STRICT SEARCH LONDON, December 27. Dublin was ringed with steel from dawn as the military tightened the cordon in order to ascertain the whereabouts of the 1,000,000 rounds of ammunition stolen on December 23 from the Phoenix Park arsenal. Armoured cars patrolled the roads, and troops examined every passing vehicle. They found a ton of the missing Ammunition hidden at Wicklow, from where the search extended to Kildare, Carlow and Kilkenny, while Government agents investigated suspected houses in Dublin. Nine members of the magazine s guard have been detained pending the conclusion of an inquiry. Five suspects have been remanded. A drive against Republican supporters has been launched in Belfast, but no arrests have been made.
