Fair to Fine And
Warmer
(United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 28. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the meteorological office, Wellington. Light to fresh westerly winds predominating, weather fair to fine and warmer. Sea slight to moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— A few passing showers still possible in the Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay area, but otherwise fair to fine generally. Temperatures becoming warmer.
General Situation.—The recent depression has passed away to .the east and there has been a considerable rise in pressure over the Dominion. Winds—Light to moderate and variable over the western and southern areas of the South Island; elsewhere light to fresh southerly to south-west-erly prevailing. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rather rough between East Cape and Banks Peninsula with considerable swell but decreasing; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea, light to moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable, and slight seas.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was dull. The sky was clouded for most of the day arid there was,little sunshine. A strong wind blew from the south-west. The weather at .one o’clock this morning was cold. There was a clouded sky, and a strong wind was blowing from the west. The barometer readings for this morning. Thursday and Wednesday have been:— This morning (falling) 30.08 in. Thursday 30.10 in. Wednesday 30.02 in.
