MAGISTRATE’S COURT THURSDAY (Before Messrs W. D. Shelton and R. Fisher, J.P.s.) A farm labourer, whose name was suppressed, appeared on a charge of having unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16 years. The accused, who was represented by Mr A. Smyth, pleaded guilty to the charge, and was committed to the Supreme Court at Dunedin for sentence on February 6. Bail was allowed at £5O, with one surety of £5O. IMPROVEMENTS AT SCHOOLS MINISTER APPROVES OF GRANTS Advice that the acting Minister of Education (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) has approved of a grant to cover the cost of erecting a type A dental clinic at the Gore Public School, has been received by Mr T. L. Macdonald, M.P. The Minister has also advised Mr Macdonald that he has approved of a grant for remodelling and enlarging the residence of the head teacher at Tuturau.
