TABLE TENNIS

TWO EVENTS PLAYED LAST NIGHT ROBSON AND MRS MARRIOTT WIN DOUBLES TITLE Two events were completed at the Southland Table Tennis Association’s championship meeting in the Orange hall last night. The mixed doubles championship was won by S. Robson and Mrs J. Marriott who beat Ferguson and Miss T. Ferns in the final.

The mixed doubles handicap event was won by A. Bolton and Miss J. Lynch (plus 16) who beat Robson and Mrs Marriott (scr) in the final.

The tournament will be continued on Friday and Saturday of next week when the A grade singles and doubles, men’s and women’s, will be played. Last night’s results were as follows:—

MIXED DOUBLES Championship

First round.—A. Robson and Miss Keppel beat Blackie and Mrs Fisher, 21-18, 21-17; L. Boyer and Miss Lynch beat Robertson and Miss Stapleton, 21-11, 21-9; Speedy and Miss Deegan beat Johnson and Miss Wills, 21-18, 21-15; Breayley and Mrs Blackie beat Hollander and Miss Crowe, 22-20, 21-18; Loudon and Mrs Robson beat Coupe and Miss Murfitt, 21-11, 21-4. Second round.—S. Robson and Mrs Marriott beat A.
