THREAT OF FAMINE IN INDIA
WATER SCARCE: FAILURE OF CROPS
LONDON, August 9.
The Bombay correspondent of The Times say that scarcity of water and the failure of crops, with a fodder famine, threatened large tracts of western India unless rain falls within a week.
Heavy mortality of cattle is reported from Kathiawar and other districts. The population is leaving some districts for the towns because of the food shortage.
