Golfers of many years’ experience watched with more than passing interest the playing of a stroke on the Shirley links, Christchurch. It was during a championship match between I. B. Cromb and H. W. Macfarlane, who were playing toward the Pagoda. After a long drive Cromb lodged his second shot in the branches cf a willow tree about Bft above the ground. He played the shot from the tree, but the ball rolled into a, creek and fte lost the hole.
